Welcome to a new season of Football at WEZWA, starting on Sunday 18th September

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new season of football at WEZWA.

At WEZWA we are passionate about providing a great environment for youth football. We love the beautiful game and are committed to lead and train throughout the season, come rain or shine (but maybe not snow).

Four main themes underpin our approach to coaching football:

  • Fun - Make the training sessions fun.
  • Player-centered - Every player is supported to develop his or her skills.
  • Satisfying - We train and play as a team.
  • Safe - Our players have a safe environment and play fair.

What we need from you and your child:

  • Please attend every practice (where possible) and arrive in time for us to start training at 10.30.
  • Bring the correct equipment, clothing and a sense of humor to each and every training session.
  • Always encourage your child with positive reinforcement.
  • Lead by example; there is NO place for aggressive sideline parents.
  • Support your children by staying to watch them train. It is also a good opportunity to expand your social circle.
  • Please let us know if your child has any medical conditions.
  • Ensure you keep me informed of any change of contact details.

Some basic essential equipment:

  • Football boots with molded soles not studs
  • Shin guards
  • A drink
  • Clothing appropriate to the weather

Training times and location:

  • We start training at 10.30 and finish at 12.00
  • Please make sure your child is delivered to their coaching group in plenty of time to begin training at 10.30 and that you are able to collect your child at 12.00.
  • We cannot be responsible for any child not delivered to their specific coaching group, or not collected by 12.10.
  • We practice on the BSB Elephant Fields (Bijlkensveldstraat Tervuren) and during December and January we will practice on the artificial fields on the BSB campus.

Parking:

  • Please DO NOT park on the roads leading to the Elephant Field gates, as this causes problems for the local residents and the police do occasionally ticket cars.
  • Please use the car parks opposite the African Museum.

Fees for the season:

  • The fees for the season are €110. Please make sure these are paid before Saturday 8th October. None payment of fees will mean your child may loose their place.
  • The bank account into which to make the payment is as follows: 310-1495313-47. Please quote your child’s name (as you have registered them with WEZWA) as the reference.

WEZWA Football Kit:

  • We encourage all children to wear the WEZWA kit, which is the shirt, socks and shorts. This helps to build a team feel.
  • We are also considering having a cold/wet weather training top and trousers.
  • I will be in touch shortly with details on how to order kit.

Please remember that this Sunday the 18th September is car free Sunday in Brussels. There is a good tram service that runs to Tervuren and the tram stop is a 5 minute walk from the Elephant fields.

Finally, what ever football team you support, I wish you luck. Just remember that Manchester United will win all the silver wear this year! (According to my son)

Best regards

Photos

As you can imagine, the site would be a bit dull without the odd photo of our kids.  Asking you permission for every child on a group photo could be difficult.  However, we would like to ensure that no children are identified in photos without express permission. So, to simplify things, if anyone objects to any photo posted, please contact us via the "contact us" form, specifying the photo and if it is a group photo, we will obscure your child's face so that it is not recognisable, and if it is a close-up shot, it will be removed immediately.
